OB 8 at the Red Bull Pit Stop
Parliamentary Pit Stop

2nd July 2010

Working closely with Red Bull, Red Bull Racing, and TVC Group, SIS LIVE provided the coverage of a Formula One first: a pit stop in London’s Parliament Square.
The shoot was based around 5 HD radio cameras and a cabled HDC1500, integrated with TVC and Red Bull Racing’s additional ENG cameras, on boards, and GO-PRO cameras for Final Cut Pro post production of the required content before play out to the world via one of SIS LIVE’s uplink trucks.
There was a window of only 5 minutes and so to capture the spectacle the Radio links had to be perfect, good communications between the Red Bull Racing team, Police and the show production based in SIS LIVE’S OB 8 were essential and of course for an event like this – the build-up had to remain highly confidential. The radio cameras and talkback covered the entire Square (as well as a view from high in the Treasury building) to allow flexible coverage of the landmark site as the mighty Formula One car driven by Mark Webber lapped in front of a bemused general public, stopping outside Westminster for a 3.2 second change of tyres on a remarkable pit stop to demonstrate the new Pit Stop rules for this year's Formula One series.
