David Meynell

Managing Director

As Managing Director, David Meynell has overall responsibility for SIS LIVE and its 500 employees. As well as managing SIS LIVE on a day-to-day basis, David is also responsible for delivering the company’s ambitious growth strategy through new business development and the introduction of new, innovative products and services to the market.

Prior to joining SIS, David had a successful career as a Communications Officer and Systems Engineering Officer in the Royal Fleet Auxiliary (RFA). He was the youngest fully qualified Systems Engineer in the RFA and, at the age of 24, oversaw the building of a communications centre in the RFA’s new ship, the Fort George.

David joined SIS in 1995 as a field-based satellite broadcast engineer and rose rapidly through the organisation, first as Operations Manager and then General Manager, before becoming Managing Director (MD) in 2005. Since then SIS LIVE has established itself as a world leader in the broadcasting industry as well as Europe’s largest and most innovative outside broadcast and uplink provider.

In 2008, under David’s management, SIS LIVE made the strategic acquisition of the BBC’s Outside Broadcasting business. SIS LIVE continues to grow rapidly, driven by an excellent client retention rate and new sporting and news-related contracts with some of the world’s best-known broadcasters, including the BBC, Sky and ITV.

Having identified opportunities in new regions and sectors, David has successfully led SIS LIVE’s in-house product development team, which now produces – and services – some of the world’s leading satellite, internet services and camera systems. As a result of its in-house expertise, SIS LIVE is becoming an established name in other markets, for example the emergency services and defence sectors.

David continues to champion innovation within SIS LIVE and has introduced two successful new ventures. The first, tailored broadcasting services for the host broadcasters of large sporting events, resulted in SIS LIVE winning a major contract for the New Delhi Commonwealth Games in 2010. Another is to provide state-of-the-art, ‘turn-key’ studio production facilities for large clients. A purpose-built studio production facility has been built for Coral TV in Milton Keynes.
