Over the last week representatives from SIS LIVE were out in Amsterdam at IBC 2012 demonstrating exciting developments to the company’s ever-growing portfolio of satellite and broadcast products. An array of products, all developed and manufactured by its in-house teams, were unveiled to the industry, including the new DriveForceTM vehicle mounted antenna, PlexSIS fibre system and innovative ManPakTM compact VSAT terminal.
One of the stars of the show was undoubtedly the brand new PlexSIS fibre optic transport system. PlexSIS provides transport of up to 16 SDI signals over a single optical fibre and was extensively used during this summer of live sport. Find out more here.
Another development on show was DriveForce, SIS LIVE’s new vehicle mounted antenna system. With increasing demand for high bandwidth HD transmissions, many existing systems use mounts developed for small aperture antennas, bolstered to take a larger reflector, thus compromising the design and wind load performance, whereas DriveForce has been built from the bottom up to remain operational in wind speeds of up to 60mph. The ultra-high performance carbon fibre antenna is fully automated, capable of very high bandwidth transmissions and incorporates SIS LIVE’s award-winning differential antenna control technology to find and track any satellite within seconds.

Mounted on a Mercedes Sprinter stationed in the outside exhibition area, DriveForce was used to transmit IBC TV News daily shows. SIS LIVE’s RouteCase® portable production studio was also selected by IBC TV News for use during live webcast interviews as part of its multi-media content offering.
In the outside area SIS LIVE was also exhibiting NewTek’s MINI LiveMan, a compact mobile production unit which features the award-winning uPod satellite uplink system and was fully integrated by the SIS LIVE team.
Other innovations on show included the market-changing ManPak, the ultimate sub 12kg VSAT terminal with no removable parts; uPak® 60, a fully automated lightweight VSAT terminal; Tr-uPod®, a compact tripod satellite uplink system and RouteCase®, a powerful, compact and affordable 4 channel HD/SDI production unit.
David Meynell, managing director, SIS LIVE says, “As a multi-talented company with experience across a wide range of areas, including satellite uplinking, outside broadcasting, special cameras and systems integration, we are adept at identifying gaps in the market and improvements to existing technologies. Both our latest products, DriveForce and PlexSIS, came about directly due to feedback from our field staff, and through this kind of internal dialogue our range of products continues to grow at a rapid pace.”
