This Friday and Saturday 26/27th October Battersea Power Station played host to Freeze Festival, an event of epic proportions sponsored by Relentless Energy Drink.
The site featured entertainment for every taste, including live music across five stages from the likes of DJ Shadow, Mark Ronson & Zane Lowe, Public Enemy, and Grandmaster Flash; the latest skiing and snowboarding fashions for sale; a multitude of bars and food outlets; a cinema and the Big Air Jump.
The Big Air Jump took centre stage, and showcased the very best in snowboarding and skiing talent from the UK and beyond, competing in a range of ‘style’ and ‘big air’ categories in search for glory. The competition concluded on Saturday night with the Europe vs the World head to head competition.

SIS LIVE, working for clients Boomerang, delivered coverage of all the sports events using three fixed cameras rigged at the top, middle and bottom of the jump, plus a manned broadcast camera positioned on a crane to capture audience reactions to these daring feats. These XD Cams also recorded all the action which was later edited into a full programme.
These four sources were fed back to SISCaster2, SIS LIVE’s in-house designed, built and operated compact production and uplink vehicle where they were mixed and fed out to big screens placed around the venue. Replays of the jumps were also be delivered by the integrated TriCaster system, with images also distributed to the two presenter-commentators. Also included in the big screen coverage were feeds from 6 PSC cameras which were roaming the venue capturing audience reactions to the events.

SISCaster2 was the ideal solution for this type of coverage. It is compact and versatile and, in this case, only requires a crew of three – a special cameras engineer, a camera operator and VT operator – to deliver comprehensive coverage of these sports events, ensuring great coverage at an attractive price.
Although not utilised at this event SISCaster HD also offers unlimited streaming at a choice of bit rates to any server required, using its self aligning VSAT satellite technology. It can encode edited clips or the live vision mixer output, using the on-board Windows Media, QuickTime, Real Player, iPhone and Flash encoders with multi-stream capability.
