SIS LIVE rounds off a successful year

Happy New Year

5th January 2015

SIS LIVE is celebrating a busy and successful 2014, in which we have further established ourselves as a comprehensive connectivity provider for major sporting venues, events and major UK broadcasters.

Last year, we completed the roll-out of enhanced fibre broadband links to Premier League football grounds, horse and dog racing tracks and other key venues across the country.

SIS LIVE’s on-going relationship with the UK’s leading broadcasters as a trusted Satellite Newsgathering (SNG) service provider also went from strength to strength during 2014.

We delivered 18 in-house designed Ka band trucks to facilitate ITV and ITN’s satellite news gathering requirements in the UK. Demand for Ka band satellite capacity continues to grow and SIS LIVE is at the forefront of UK’s Ka band development, producing new products and working with all major satellite operators to offer exceptionally cost effective solutions for their mobile and fixed data requirements.

ITV and ITN were among the first beneficiaries of the new iDirect hub at MediaCityUK, which works alongside SIS LIVE iDirect services from Milton Keynes to provide greater resilience and additional new functionality. In addition, Sky News also took delivery of six SIS LIVE-modified trucks during 2014, each equipped with our resilient DriveForce®; a fully-automated, motorised, vehicle-mounted satellite uplink system designed for rapid deployment.

SIS LIVE was instrumental in the setting of two Guinness World Records, confirmed last year. In June our streaming capabilities were highlighted when we heard that our broadcast of 31 simultaneous online streams from the ‘Red Bull Revolutions in Sound’ live music broadcast in November 2013 from the EDF Energy London Eye had set a record.

Renowned chef Jamie Oliver also called on SIS LIVE’s expertise to help him set a new Guinness World Record for most participants in a cookery lesson. He prepared a rainbow wrap with schoolchildren inside London’s City Hall – and 357,352 people worldwide followed his every move via satellite multi-camera feeds, YouTube and Skype, all delivered by SIS LIVE.

The Scottish Referendum was a major event for our uplink fleet, SIS LIVE sent 28 uplinks to voting day on 18th September and provided multiple services to major broadcasters, breaking news stories were broadcast to audiences throughout the day.

We added two new innovations to our market-leading portfolio of satellite terminals during 2014. The new ManPak®T range of highly portable tripod antennas have already attracted a great deal of interest, along with the LoStow™ vehicle mounted antenna which has recently received NewsSpotter approval.

SIS LIVE goes into 2015 in great shape and we are looking forward to working with and pushing the boundaries for all of our customers.
