Symphony is a streaming success!

6th February 2015

On Saturday 17th January, SIS LIVE filmed and hosted a live high definition (HD) stream of a concert by the London Symphony Orchestra and two of Kazakhstan’s most famous musicians, available live online  to music fans worldwide.

The 60-piece London Symphony Orchestra joined Kazakh violinist Marat Bisengaliev to perform Inception, the new album by renowned Kazakh composer Yerkesh Shakeyev.

The concert, held at St Luke’s, a Grade 1 listed former church in central London earlier this month, was streamed live to Kazakhstan and around the world.

SIS LIVE provided five-camera coverage, lighting, sound and uplink facilities, and hosted the event on its own website. This was achieved using its own streaming and encoding farm, developed in-house, which allows people all over the world to watch live streaming events as they happen.

Martin Evans, IP Sales Manager, SIS LIVE, said: “This new album and concert were big news in the classical music world so it was vital we got both the sound and the camera shots absolutely right for an exacting live global audience.

“We had limited time to prepare for the evening concert because the venue only became available that afternoon. Classical music fans expect the best acoustic quality, as well as faultless video footage, and we had to read the music score closely to be able to anticipate the right camera shots throughout.

“Everything went entirely to plan and the concert was very well received. So much so that we’re planning to stream two more concerts, with other orchestras.”

He added: “This concert was easily accessible to online viewers because of SIS LIVE’s superb streaming and encoding farm, which we exclusively host. This not only delivers our customers the superb broadcast quality SIS LIVE is renowned for, but also guarantees worldwide live coverage via the Internet.”

Alexander Van Ingen, Executive Producer for Decca Classics, said: “Marat Bisengaliev and Yerkesh Shakeyev have a devoted following in the UK, as well as a significant fan base in Kazakhstan and the rest of the world.

“The skills, experience and composure of the SIS team meant we achieved this with apparent ease. The evening was very much a success.”
