SIS LIVE owns and operates an extensive range of equipment to provide you with the best solution for any connectivity need you may have. Central to this operation are our two teleports, located in Milton Keynes and at MediaCityUK in Manchester. Alongside our MCR operations these facilities provide interconnections between satellite and ground based communications and are operational 24hrs a day, 365 days a year. Our teleport systems provide essential connectivity to broadcasters, giving them direct access to the global satellite market.
With Ka, C, Ku band and DBS up and downlinks, both-way facility lines to BT Tower, tape playout and record facilities, plus standard conversion capabilities and TVRO supply and installation service, our service covers all technical requirements. Our support team are always on call, ensuring your uplink remains reliable all the time.
This state of the art teleport is the largest in the north of the UK and brings an unprecedented level of connectivity to the region, as well as to the MediaCityUK complex itself.
The nine dishes range from 3.8m up to 9m, covering Ku, Ka, C and DBS bands and were manufactured by General Dynamics Vertex models. All have four port feeds and are transmit capable. The teleport is connected to the SIS control room by fibre optic cables with two completely separate circuits in place. The power supplies are covered by a dual UPS and a standby generator ensuring that the system is fully redundant.
Making use of optimised viewing angles of at least 45°East to 45°West, and via careful placement and separation, the dishes are able to see most satellites in use in the UK. This facility, located on Trafford Wharf, just opposite MediaCityUK, confirms SIS LIVE’s position as the leading provider of satellite facilities in Europe.
Milton Keynes Teleport
SIS LIVE’s Milton Keynes teleport went live in 2006 and has since been expanded to include a total of 10 antennas ranging from 2.4m to 4.9m in size. These are capable of communicating with a range of satellites and operating in Ku and DBS bands. ANT1 and ANT7 can see 28°East to 45°West, and ANT4 covers from 0.8°East to 27.5°West. The teleport is connected to the SIS control room by fibre optic cables, with power supplies covered by a UPS system and a standby generator.
This facility has provided a quality service for many years for most of the top broadcasters across the UK and world.
Network Operations Centres
SIS LIVE operates a number of Network Operations Centres (NOCs) across the country, offering 24/7 coverage. As well as controlling the teleports, our NOC’s collect satellite feeds and route them to galleries and studios or via central hubs such as BT Tower in London.
The teleport and NOCs are just part of a wider connectivity portfolio which includes an extensive national fibre network, the largest mobile uplink service in Europe and an award-winning range of portable VSAT uplink units. Through any combination of these facilities we are able to offer you the best, most reliable and cost-effective service, and, by operating from multiple locations, ensure full redundancy in case of site outage.
So, whether your connection need is local, national, or international, be assured that SIS LIVE has the perfect solution to meet your needs.
