SIS LIVE Special Cameras division comprises an enthusiastic group of exceptionally talented and innovative broadcast, mechanical and electronic design engineers whose sole ambition is to get high quality live action pictures from unique viewpoints.
Viewers don’t just enjoy watching sporting events from all angles, they expect it. Pictures from a racing driver’s point of view; underwater tracking shots at swimming events; and footage from the middle stump in a test match. These are shots that give you an idea of what it’s like in the firing line. If you can visualise a shot, we have the equipment and skills to make it a reality.
However, we don’t stop there. We are constantly developing innovative ways to take the viewer to places they didn’t realise they could go. Underwater, under sail, under par, under fire, under the knife, snowed under, undercover (under your nose – but never seen), under wraps, under the skin; we will get you to the heart of the event.

HALIBUT HD – like a fish in water
Halibut II from SIS LIVE is a multi-functional underwater HD tracking camera designed for world class swimming events and, more recently, water polo matches. The camera moves at speeds up to 4 metres a second, on a lightweight track. Halibut II has a 10:1 HD zoom lens and is controlled by one operator using two joysticks, one for the pan and tilt and the other operating the drive mechanism.

HD POD – the 360 degree pan and tilt camera
The HD Pod camera system is a weatherproof, HD, RF Mini-camera. It has a comprehensive PC based data control system for use in challenging OB situations such aboard the America’s Cup Yachts. It provides a miniature HD pan/tilt camera system whilst being completely self contained, battery operated and with its own HD radiolink TX and RF data control system. HD Pod has a variety of uses across the OB spectrum, from specialist sports applications and remote wildlife filming, to innovative reality TV scenarios.
PLUNGE CAM – the free faller
Plunge Cam is a fully motorised vertical tracking HD camera, designed to track a dive in free fall at 15m per second from the 10m platform to 4m below the water line. Plunge Cam is able to capture a seamless dive sequence above and below the water in real time and can also be used for slow motion analysis. A software driven motor allows for full control of the speed of descent and recovery allowing for fast and accurate camera reset. The tubular design is fully motorised to allow the camera to pan and to follow divers to the edge of the pool. The casing can contain two cameras giving the option of tight and wide angle views.

TURN CAM – the underwater acrobat
Turn Cam is a multi-functional, underwater, remote controlled HD Camera system designed to capture shots of flip turns, synchronised swimming and diving action from beneath the water line. Turn cam incorporates a 10:1 HD zoom lens and offers iris, gain, aperture, black level, colour balance and saturation control features.
HD STUMP CAM – over and out
SIS LIVE supply the world’s only full HD cricket stump cameras, to complement the SD stumps that are still being used by some clients. These are offered as managed hire or dry hire for other broadcast companies. These unique cameras give the viewer an unparalleled view of the action, being the only camera actually on the field of play. First developed for BBC Sport’s Test Match coverage in the 1990s these cameras have undergone significant engineering upgrades, and are designed and manufactured in house.
SIS LIVE HD stumps are currently being shipped to customers in Australia, India and the West Indies for English domestic and International matches. Almost every televised international cricket match now features a Stump-Cam.
Our special camera department have a wide range of other miniature camera solutions available for almost any position. Using intelligently designed mountings made from the lightest and most durable material these cameras can provide an array of intimate shots from, for example, the corner of a football goal, the helmet of a motorsport competitor, or from the top of a golf flag.
